I’ve known since I was 6 years old that I wanted to be an author. I remember my first grade teacher laughing at me when I told her so. That only made me more determined and I finished my first novel-length story in 8th grade. It was an epically bad sci-fi/fantasy/mystery/romance mash-up and writing The End was one of the proudest moments of my young life.

I haven’t put down my pen since.

In college, after several false starts in more practical fields of study, I followed my heart and received a B.A. in creative writing from SUNY Oswego, followed by an M.F.A. in writing popular fiction at Seton Hill University.

I spend most of my time writing, painting, tinkering with my website, or reading. I love TV and movies and probably–okay, definitely–watch too much of both. Give me a good horror movie over a chick flick any day. (And, let’s be honest, I’ll take a bad horror movie too!) And if superheroes are involved, I’m so all over that. I’m a proud geek at heart and pledge my avid TV fandom to Supernatural and Doctor Who. I’m also a big fan of The Voice. What can I say? Guilty pleasure.

I share my life with my fur-babies: two dogs, Ella and Otto, and a ginormous cat named Nabisco. (Yes, like the cookie company. What? I told you I like my sweets, didn’t I? No? Well, now you know. Hi, I’m Tonya and I’m a junk food junkie.)

I’m from a small town in Western New York, but I love to travel. Some might even say I suffer from a bad case of wanderlust. I say I don’t suffer at all–I enjoy every second and I have a habit of moving someplace new every few years just to shake things up. Luckily, my animals are all excellent travel buddies.
